Need words? Try Visual Thesaurus

Among our electronic reference sources is a hidden jewel:
Visual Thesaurus is the fun way to find synonyms to enhance your writing, help brainstorm topics and keywords for searching databases, and improve English and other language skills. Each word you enter becomes the center of a visual map of many other "associates." You can even set the map to include foreign language equivalents. A quick video demos the basics.

Tips for last weeks of semester

  1. Remember to save your work from library computers to a thumb drive or to catfiles! Public computers remove documents overnight. (Drives on sale at circulation desk).
  2. Get Summit and Interlibrary Loan requests (via WorldCat) in this week if you want to receive them on time for papers.
  3. Use Linfield WorldCat to find books and articles.
  4. Use library databases for more focused article searching.
  5. Having a hard time finding or getting resources? Consult a reference librarian - by email or appointment.

Listen to your articles? Many Gale databases include mp3 files

You can get MP3 files for thousands of articles through some of our new Gale Research Databases.

Try this out in Academic OneFile, the first database on the Gale link above. Run a search, then click on the article title of your choice to view the whole record. When there is full text, choose between downloading a text file or an MP3 file. Listen while you walk, run, wash dishes, or whatever.

Find Gale Research and other databases under the Articles & Databases drop down. Questions? Contact a librarian.
