Please join us for an evening with Lee Montgomery: Tomorrow evening, Wednesday the 5th, 7:30pm, Austin Reading Room.
She's the author of a memoir, "The Things Between Us," which started out being about the death of her father and came to include a great deal of exploration of her mother's alcoholism. It sounds depressing, but it's actually very intense and funny, as well as poignant.
Montgomery is also the author of a collection of short stories called "Whose World is This?” The memoir was the winner of the Oregon Book Award last year, and the story collection is a finalist for the award this year; this is a highly competitive prize and the fact that Montgomery is so well regarded in both genres is unusual.
Montgomery is also the editor in chief of Tin House Books, a fine small press based in Portland and New York. She's worked as a newspaper editor and a ghost-writer, as well, and is full of crazy stories about those experiences.
